Sandra Bullock is a talented and a beautiful actress. She has been a part of numerous box office hits over the years. This has made her one of the richest female entertainers in the world. She is an actress par excellence and has picked up many awards for her stellar performances. Sandra Bullock is a timeless beauty. Even at 51, only she can manage to be People’s Magazine’s ‘Most Beautiful Woman’. A beloved celebrity she is known to be grounded, approachable and charitable, something that she keeps under wraps.

Born in Arlington, Virginia, Sandra Annette Bullock was the first child of John W. Bullock and Helga Mathilde Meyer. Her father was employed by the U.S. Military Postal Service, and her mother was an opera singer. She also has a younger sister, Gesine. Sandra spent the first twelve years of her life in Nuremberg, Germany and fluently speaks German. Given her mother’s influence, Sandra took part in ballet productions from a very young age. After returning to the United States, she attended Washington- Lee High School and went on to graduate in fine arts from East Carolina University in North Carolina.

Throughout her education, Bullock was actively involved with theater groups in her school and college. It was after completing her graduation that Sandra moved to Manhattan, where she did bartending, waitressing and other such jobs to survive, while auditioning for different roles. Her career as an actor started with the play, No Time Flat (1987). Her role in the play caught the attention of the director, Alan J. Levi, who offered her a role in a TV movie, Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman (1989). This opened a lot of gates for her with small and, later, bigger roles in independent productions. It was her supporting role in Demolition Man (1993) that brought Sandra the recognition she deserves. The following year was a breakout year for her with a lead role in Speed (1994), with Keanu Reeves, which went on to become a major hit. This skyrocketed her career to another level.

Speed was followed by a number of successful movies that include While You Were Sleeping (1995), The Net (1995), A Time To Kill (1996), Hope Floats (1998), and so on. 1997 saw a sequel of Speed, Speed 2: Cruise Control being released. Sandra Bullock received a mind blowing 11 million dollars for the role. But the movie was a failure across the board. According to Bullock, she only did the role to secure finances for her home project, Hope Floats.

Though Speed 2 received terrible reviews, Sandra Bullock’s career kept blossoming and she soon delivered the blockbuster, Miss Congeniality (2000). Her role in the movie brought her a lot of laurels, including the American Comedy Award for Favorite Actress and the prestigious Golden Globe nomination. However, the sequel again ditched her with Miss Congeniality 2 (2005), which did not do so well.

Sandra Bullock has constantly performed in movies that have exciting female characters. Romantic comedies seem to always go down well for her. She continued to do such movies and delivered hits like Two Weeks Notice (2002) and Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002).

Sandra then took a complete U-turn and impressed the critics with a supporting role in Crash (2004) and the serious drama, The Lake House (2006). Then came 2009, one of the most eventful year of her life, for both good and bad reasons. It started with her huge box office hit, The Proposal (2009). She also earned the crown jewel of Hollywood, an Academy Award, as well as the Golden Globe for her role in the movie, The Blind Side (2009). Interestingly enough, she was also declared the Worst Actress that year for All About Steve (2009). Gravity, released in 2013, became her career’s most successful movies, raking in around $716 million worldwide.

Bullock ranked no. 2 on Forbes list of Most Powerful Actresses as of 2014. She owns a successful production company and a restaurant in Austin, Texas. Sandra Bullock was married to motorcycle builder and TV personality, Jesse James until 2010. The relationship broke after she found out about the several affairs her husband had while they were married. Sandra took a sabbatical to deal with the crisis and avoided the media completely at the time. At the time, the couple was trying for adoption and she continued with the process. She finally adopted Louis Bardo Bullock in 2010, as a single parent.
