William Perry Fisher, II was born in Covington, Kentucky on September 7, 1961.
Parents are Maryann Florence (Kirby) Fisher (London, UK) and William Perry Fisher (Hendersonville, NC). Perry was the youngest of three children (Taunia Ann; September 4, 1956), (Cheryl Lynn, October 13, 1960), (William Perry, September 7, 1961). Perry Fisher has five children: William Perry Fisher, III (1986), Phillip Andrew Fisher (1990), Megan Von Fisher (Vietnam, 1990), Christian Tyler Fisher (1993), Carrie Rose Fisher (China, 1995).
The Fisher family moved to Henderson County, North Carolina in 1966 where Perry Fisher attended public schools. Perry Fisher was a multi-talented athlete participating in varsity cross-country, varsity basketball and varsity track. In track, Perry was a pole-vaulter and tied the high school record at 13 feet, 6 inches. Perry was also the student body president at East Hendersonville High School, graduating in 1980.
Perry Fisher graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1984.
Perry Fisher graduated Wake Forest School of Law in 1987. While in law school, Perry received numerous honors and academic awards and was the Student Bar Association President 1986-1987.
Perry Fisher moved with his family to Asheville in 1987 to practice law with the law firm of Van Winkle, Buck Wall, Starnes and Davis. The firm later became known as the Van Winkle Law Firm and for many years was the oldest and largest law firm west of Charlotte, North Carolina. While at the Van Winkle Law Firm, Perry Fisher became a full partner and served on the firm’s Executive Committee. Perry also received numerous accolades and honors including being selected as the Litigator of the Year at the firm for several consecutive years. One of Perry Fisher’s partners at the Van Winkle Law Firm at one point referred to Perry Fisher as the firm’s “designated hitter” for all jury trials.
Perry Fisher was elected by his peers to serve as President of the 500+ member 28th Judicial District Bar for 2001-2002. The 28th Judicial District Bar is a mandatory bar organization. Perry Fisher has been recognized for many accomplishments in his service to his fellow attorneys.
In 2005, Perry Fisher was recognized by his legal peers across the State and nation as having the highest legal ability and the highest ethical rating through the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating System. With this honor, Perry Fisher joined the approximate 4% of attorneys in the country to have received the highest AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. AV rated lawyers have been recognized by their peers for excellence in both legal ability and ethical practice. Perry Fisher has handled legal matters for clients throughout the State of North Carolina as well as many matters in other jurisdictions including matters from Montreal to Miami; Los Angeles to New York City and many places in-between. While licensed only in the State of North Carolina, many of Perry Fisher’s clients request that he become admitted Pro Hac Vice for his trial assistance in other jurisdictions. Perry Fisher has served as both local and supervising counsel to numerous corporations, including many Fortune 500 companies.
In 2007, Perry Fisher left the Van Winkle Law Firm to start his own law firm, which is now known as Fisher Stark Cash, P.A.
Perry Fisher is an inaugural Barrister member of the Harry C. Martin Chapter of the American Inns of Court. The mission of the American Inns of Court is to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility and legal skills. Perry Fisher has extensive trial experience and applies that experience to help his clients on a daily basis. At present, Perry Fisher has tried 137 jury trials lasting between two days and two weeks. While each case may be different and past results do not equal future performance, Perry Fisher’s clients have received favorable verdicts in 130 of the 137 cases which he has currently tried before a jury. He has been a practicing Asheville Attorney for many years.
