1890 – Paul was born on the 28th of March.


1918 – Started a jazz influenced dance band which beacame popular in San Francisco, California.


1920 – Moved to New York with his band and started making recordings under Victor records.


1920 – 1930 – Dubbed as "The King of Jazz". – His works were not considered as jazz by later generations but his music developed the history of jazz.


1926 – He recorded Hoagy Carmichael singing and playing Washboard Blues to the accompaniment of his orchestra.


1931 – He married motion picture actress Margaret Livingston.


1967 – He died on the 29th of December in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
