Theresa attended Reidsville City Schools and graduated from Reidsville Senior High in 1966. In the Fall of 1966, she was in the first class of Freshmen women, that was admitted to the University of North Carolina, in Chapel Hill. She attended college summer and winter, completing her degree in Industrial Relations, in August of 1969. However, UNC-CH always labels her a graduate of 1970.
Nathan and Theresa married in May of 1969, and Theresa worked for the University, until Nathan finished pharmacy school in 1972.
Nathan worked a year of internship at Duke Hospital, and then the family moved to Sanford, NC in 1973. While in Sanford, Anna was born in 1973, and Michael was born in 1975. Theresa was a full time mom, with the exception working for H&R Block, for two tax seasons.
When Theresa and family moved to High Point, NC in 1976, Theresa decided to take the real estate course, so that she could work part-time. Her first real estate job was with Charles Dixon and Associates, in downtown High Point.
In 1979, the family moved back to Reidsville and Theresa worked four years with Barbara Moore, Town and County Realty. After working with Gentry and Mitchell for 2 years, she decided to open her own office, McCollum and Associates. In 1986, Mel Kriegsman, the owner of Kriegsman and Associates, Realtors, contacted Theresa about buying her business and staying to manage the company for him. With two kids in high school and a husband, who had just purchased a drugstore, Theresa decided that selling her company would give her more time with her children. Mel and Theresa have worked together for 33 years.
Theresa has the Certified Residential Specialist and Graduate of Realtor Institute designations. She was a Realtor of Distinction in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, which is awarded by the Greater Regional Realtors Association for community service and service to the real estate industry.
