1946 – He was born on the 20th day of December in Paterson, New Jersey and grew up in nearby Totowa. He enrolled at Professional Children’s School in Manhattan and later attended Farleigh Dickinson University but did not complete a degree.
1981 – He won an Obie Award for the off-Broadway production of "Still Life," about a Vietnam veteran, and received a Drama Desk nomination for "The Day Room."
1990 – He began his television career on The Patty Duke Show. He was also a regular cast member on L.A. Law, playing "Tommy Mullaney.”
1994 – He starred in the movie “The Rock”, as the untrustworthy FBI official "Womack".
1995 – He acted in the romantic comedy "Forget Paris."
2002 – He won his first Emmy Award in 2002 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Leo McGarry on The West Wing.
2005 – On the 16th day of December, he passed away following a heart attack in a Los Angeles hospital, four days before his 59th birthday.
