1893 – He was born on the 12th day of December this year in Bucharest, Romania.


1903 – He immigrated with his family to New York City. He attended Townsend Harris High School and then City College of New York, but an interest in acting led to him winning an American Academy of Dramatic Arts scholarship.

1916 – He made his film debut in a minor and unaccredited role this year.


1923 – He made his named debut as E. G. Robinson in The Bright Shawl.


1927 – He married the actress Gladys Lloyd.

1931 – He has acclaimed performance as the gangster Rico Bandello in Little Caesar


1937 – He did the film “Kid Galahad.”


1940 – After a good performance in Dr. Ehrlich’s Magic Bullet, he expanded into edgy psychological dramas including Double Indemnity.


1948 – He continued to portray gangsters such as Johnny Rocco in John Huston’s classic Key Largo, the last of five films he made with Humphrey Bogart.


1950 – He was called to testify in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee and was threatened with blacklisting followed in 1952.


1956 – He sold it to Greek shipping tycoon Stavros Niarchos in order to raise cash needed for his divorce settlement with Gladys Lloyd.


1973 – He died on the 26th day of January this year in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, United States at age 79. He is is interred in a crypt in the family mausoleum at Beth-El Cemetery in Ridgewood.
