1929 – Born on September 10th in Youngstown, Pennsylvania. A professional American golfer, the first to win the Masters Tournament (Augusta, Georgia) four times and the first to earn $1,000,000 in tournament prize money.

         – Palmer attended Wake Forest (N.C.) University and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

1954 – He became a professional golfer after winning the U.S. Amateur championship.

1960-1962 –  In addition to his four victories in the Masters Tournament, he won the U.S. Open and the British Open.

1975 – He won 61 tournaments sanctioned by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA).

1981 – He won the PGA Senior Open.

         – An astute businessman, he served as president of the highly successful Arnold Palmer Enterprises and was national spokesman for such companies as PaineWebber, Lanier Worldwide, Inc., and Pennzoil.
