1942 – Born on June 28th in Chicago, Illinois. Former American football player.

1961 – Kopay originally planned to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee on a football scholarship, but when Marquette discontinued its football program, he instead went to the University of Washington, where his brother was a member of the team.

1963 – Was co-captain of the team, he led the Huskies to the PAC-10 conference championship and an appearance in the Rose Bowl.

1964 – Kopay was drafted by the San Francisco ’49ers and spent ten years in the NFL.

1968 – He was traded to the Detroit Lions, to the Washington Redskins(where his coach was the legendary Vince Lombardi), to the New Orleans Saints, and to the Green Bay Packers.

1971 – He married but the marriage lasted little more than a year.

1975 – David Kopay made headlines when he came out publicly as a gay man.
