Baptized by John the Baptist.


Began large-scale ministry and gathered twelve apostles, establishing basis for Christian church.


As charismatic leader, aroused fear among Roman secular authorities and Jewish priesthood.


Upon betrayal by Judas Iscariot at Gethsemane, seized by Roman soldiers and brought before Sanhedrin to be examined and condemned as false prophet.


Sent to Pontius Pilate on charges of sedition, then to Herod Antipas, then back to Pontius Pilate, before being handed over to Jewish authorities for execution.


Crucified at Golgotha.


Regarded by Christians as divine Son of God and as messiah foretold in Old Testament.
