1954 – He was born James Francis Cameron on the 16th day of August of this year in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada.


1971 – His family moved to Brea, California. There he studied physics at Cal State-Fullerton, but his passion for filmmaking would draw him to the film archive of UCLA at every opportunity. After seeing the film Star Wars, Cameron quit his job as a truck driver to enter the film industry.


1978 – He married Sharon Williams on the 14th day of February this year. The couple divorced in 1984. Then, he married Gale Anne Hurd in 1985 and divorced in 1989.


1981 – He started in the film industry as a screenwriter, and then moved into art direction and effects for films such as Battle beyond the Stars and Escape from New York. Working with producer Roger Corman, Cameron landed his first directorial job in this year for the film Piranha II: The Spawning, shot at Grand Cayman Island for the underwater diving sequences, and in Rome, Italy for most of the interior scenes.


1984 – He wrote and directed The Terminator (1984), a futuristic action-thriller starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, and Linda Hamilton.


1986 – After this came a string of successful science-fiction action films such as Aliens in this year and Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991. Cameron is now one of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood.


1989 – He directed the movie “The Abyss” in this year, Titanic in 1997, Expedition: Bismarck in 2002 (TV), and Ghosts of the Abyss in 2003.


2000 – He married his fifth wife Suzy Amis on the 4th day of June this year.
