1942 – Born on May 14th in Razvedki, Russia. Soviet athlete who held the world record in the high jump.

1936 – At the age of 14 he was already much better than all adult athletes in the city.

1960 – Valery set his first European record of 2 m 17 cm. After two months, he raised it to 2 m 20 cm.

         – He won a silver medal in the Olympics in Rome.

1961-1971 – He held the world record in the high jump.
 
         – Brumel was educated and graduated at the Central Institute of Physical Culture (Moscow).

         – Became a member of the Communist Party.

         – He won a gold medal in Olympic high jump.

2003 – Died on January 26th in Moscow, Russia.
