1962 – Bruce Robert Baumgartner was born 31st of August in Haledon, New Jersey.

 

1980 – Baumgartner was the Olympic team alternate and was the pioneering National Freestyle champion.

 

1981 – In Romania, he won the championship at the World University Games.

 

1982 – Graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Industrial Art Education.

 

        – Awarded with an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.        

 

1984 – Got his first gold medal in Los Angeles in the Olympic Games, and became a member of the World Team.

 

1986 – Won the World Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

 

1987 – Bagged the gold in the Pan-American Games in Indianapolis.

 

1988 – Second Olympic medal with silver medal at the Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.

 

1991 – Brought home gold medals from the Pan-American Games in Cuba.

 

1992 – First American wrestler to ever medal in three consecutive Olympics as he won the gold medal for the second time while competing in Barcelona, Spain.

 

1994 – Again got the bronze medal in the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg, Russia.

 

1996 – Won bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta freestyle heavyweight wrestling.
