1810 – Ebenezer Cobham Brewer was born.
1836 – He attended the University of Cambridge, graduating in Law.
– He was ordained and then returned to Norwich to work at his father’s school.
1838 – While there he compiled his first major work, A Guide to the Scientific Knowledge of Things Familiar, first published.
1856 – On returning to England, he started on the work that was to become Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable.
1897- Ebenezer Cobham Brewer died.
