1791 – He was born on the 14th of September in Mainz, archbishopric of Mainz (Germany.)

1816 – Bopp’s first important work, Über das Conjugationssystem der Sanskritsprache (On the System of Conjugation in Sanskrit), foreshadowed his major achievement.

1820 – He extended the study to include the other grammatical parts.

1821 – Professor of Oriental literature and general philology at the University of Berlin.

1822 – He was elected member of the Royal Prussian Academy.

1827 – Bopp published a Sanskrit grammar and a Sanskrit and Latin glossary.

1840-1854 – He also produced a number of monographs, including studies of several European language groups, papers on the relation of the Malayo-Polynesian and Indo-European languages and on the accent in Sanskrit and Greek.

1867 – He died on the 23rd of October in Berlin, Prussia (Germany.)
