1876 – He married Kate Kingsley, and had two children with her.
1883 – He was the first manager of New York’s Metropolitan Opera Company.
– He managed the tours of Adelina Patti and the London Gaity in America, and he introduced Sarah
Bernhardt to America.
1886 – He married again to Florence Gerard.
1890 – He opened Abbey’s Theatre, one of the first theatrical managers to present expensive shows outside
of the major cities.
1891 – He resigned after a financially unsuccessful first season, but was re-hired.
1896 – He died in New York City on the 17th of October, at the age of 50.
