Clint Eastwood’s Fantastic Career

Clint Eastwood’s Fantastic Career

Clint Eastwood has certainly become a legend through his career, as his awards would give testimony. Not only is he a famous actor whose face is an icon on the big screen, he has also worked as a director and producer. Out of the famous actors which will be remembered throughout history, Clint Eastwood has certainly made his mark among them.

Clint Eastwood was born in San Francisco, California, on May 31st, 1930. He traveled around a lot as a child with his family, and after he graduated from high school he worked as a lifeguard in Seattle. His career didn't really start until after he was drafted into the military in 1950. In Las Angeles he tried out for acting gigs while digging out swimming pools to support himself. He worked from the bottom upward, starting off in B-rated horror movies, and from there he landed some parts in a few credited supporting roles.

After several years of playing minor roles in films Clint Eastwood finally had his breakthrough. He landed the popular part of Rowdy Yates in the TV show Rawhide, and this job lasted a lengthy six years for Eastwood. He was often ridiculed for squinting, hissing his lines, as well as his rigid mannerisms, which of course in time became a hallmark of his acting style and a positive feature he would be remembered by. Eastwood wasn't particularly happy with the role he played, feeling that his character Rowdy was too young for him. It was also a very difficult point in his career as he typically worked 12 hour days six days a week. The series is still what got him on the road to bigger things.

From Rawhide Clint Eastwood continued climbing the ladder to success and fame. Because of the fame of the TV show Eastwood became the star of A Fistful of Dollars as well as the movie's sequel. After this Clint Eastwood became an official international superstar when he performed in the movie The Good, The bad, and the Ugly in the year 1966. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly was very profitable, earning 8 million then, which is worth 56.6 million today. Eastwood was far from done achieving success in his career as a movie star, however.

Next on the list of achievements for Clint Eastwood were movies like Coogan's Bluff, Hang 'Em High, and Where Eagles Dare, in addition to the musical Paint Your Wagon. He began to dominate the Western genre, becoming a memorable trademark which has made a lasting impression over decades. Eastwood's talents are not limited to acting in Westerns, of course.

Clint Eastwood directed his very first movie in 1971: the thriller Play Misty for Me. The year and film marked a new milestone for Eastwood's career, granting him the creative freedom which he desired. Not only did he direct Play Misty for Me, he also played one of the main characters.

He stared in numerous other films as well, seeing a slightly negative period during the 80s, but he bounced back in the 90s. He continued to star in movies after the turn of the 21st century, where he was a part of even more films which would be remembered in history, such as Million Dollar Baby and Grand Torino.
