1963 - Maria da Graça "Xuxa" Meneghel, born on the 27th of March in Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She is famous in Brazil as the host of a long-running variety show for children. She is a Brazilian television actress, singer and children's television show host. Her various shows have been broadcasted in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. 1978 - At age 15, she was followed home by a magazine publisher who spotted the pretty blue-eyed blonde on the train and invited her to audition to be a model. A year later, she was on the cover of a Brazilian magazine. 1980 - She posed for another magazine with other Brazilian models and the great soccer legend Pelé. The smitten athlete wooed the young model and the two embarked on a six-year romance which propelled her career forward. 1982 - She was a teen model who later posed as a centerfold in the Brazil edition of Playboy. 1986 - Became the unabashedly sexy host of her own children's TV show, featuring Xuxa singing and dancing with her cadre of teen helpers (known as "Paquitas"), visits from celebrities and other colorful hijinks. An American version of her hit TV show lasted only one season, but internationally she has remained a star. 1998 - Daughter, Sasha, was born. 2001 - She began a new children's show, Xuxa No Mundo da Imaginação (Xuxa at the World of Imagination), a show for preschool children on weekday mornings.
