1963 – George Michael, Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (in Greek ΓιÎργος Κυρι¬κος ΠαναγιÎτου) born on 25th of June, is an English singer-songwriter who performs soul influenced pop icon. Michael was born in Finchley, North London, to Greek Cypriot father, Jack, who moved to the UK, and English-Jewish mother Lesley.
1982 – Achieved fame in the duo Wham! in his native U.K.
1986 – He and his partner, Andrew Ridgeley, scored hit after hit in a variety of styles from rap to up-tempo pop to slow ballads.
1987 – Began with the album Faith, which featured a series of chart-topping hit singles and sold more than seven million copies.
1996 – Released Older, its sales clearly hampered by his long hiatus away from performing.
1998 – Made tabloid headlines when he was arrested for lewd conduct in a men’s public restroom at a park near his Beverly Hills home; following the incident, the singer appeared on CNN and publicly revealed his homosexuality.
1993 – Was involved in a court case concerning his record contract after his record company CBS was taken over by Sony. Amongst Michael’s complaints was that Sony had not fully supported the release of his second solo album resulting in its poor performance in the U.S. compared to Faith.
2004 – Highly anticipated album Patience. It was released in March, after two popular singles released through Polydor Records. Patience debuted at number one in the UK album charts and number two in Australia. It has sold moderately globally with 2.5 million.
2006 – Was found slumped over the wheel of his Range Rover, photographed apparently snoozing at traffic lights in London on the 15th of May.
