1956 - He joined the Democrazia Christiana (a Christian democratic party of Italy).

1963 - He became member of Parliament in Italy.

1973 - He became member of the Italian cabinet.

1980 - He served as a Minister of Industry, and then as Minister of foreign trade in Italy.

1982 - He became Chairman of the Democrazia Christiana party.

1986 - He was re-elected in the Parliament.

1988 - He became Prime Minister of of Italy, and served for one year.

1996 - He joined the Italian People's Party.

         - He became member of Democracy is Freedom – Daisy (a centrist political Party in Italy) and became

              regional secretary for campaign.
