1927 - Born on the 22nd of September in Mercedes, Texas.

1944 - He joined the United States Navy.

1950 - He served as an officer in the United States Army, Thirty-seventh Division Artillery.

1951 - He graduated as a second lieutenant, St. Mary’s ROTC.

1952 - He graduated in St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, with a degree of Bachelor of Laws.

          - He a member of the State house of representatives.

1965 - On the 3rd of January, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-ninth and to the fifteen

               succeeding Congresses.

1985 -  He became Chairman, Committee on Agriculture in Texas.
