1936 - Born on the 18th of March in Johannesburg, South Africa.
1958 - He graduated at Potchefstroom University, with a degree of Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts.
1969 - He married Marike Willemse.
- He was first elected to South African Parliament, for Vereeniging a province of South africa.
1978 - He appointed Minister of Posts and Telecommunications and Social Welfare and Pensions by
Prime Minister Vorster.
1979 - He served as a Minister of Mines, Energy and Environmental Planning.
1980 - He served as a Minister of Mineral and Energy Affairs.
1982 - He became Minister of Internal Affairs.
1984 - He served as a Minister of National Education and Planning.
1985 - He became Chairman of the Minister's Council in the House of Assembly.
1986 - On the 1st of December he became leader of the House of Assembly.
1989 - He became State President of South Africa.
1994 - He became Vice-President of South Africa.
1998 - He was divorced to his wife Marike Willemse after she discovered his affair to another woman.
2006 - He underwent surgery for a malignant tumor in his colon.
2007 - On the month of January, he was a speaker promoting peace and democracy in the world at the
"Towards a Global Forum on New Democracies" event in Taipei, Taiwan.
