Amanda Highley works as a Project Manager at Greenstone Media, a Digital Agency located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Amanda was born on January 25th 1990 in Morganton, North Carolina. Raised on a farm at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Amanda grew up playing in the woods that surround her family home and adventuring down the creek with her brother, Jake. She has many fond memories of growing up in the country, hiking and camping with her family, and swimming with her grandparents in their pools.
For 6 summers in a row Amanda worked at Steele Creek Family Campground during her high school years and for part of her college career. A proud graduate of Appalachian State University, Amanda holds a BA in Art Education. A mountain girl at heart, she loves any chance to visit Boone, North Carolina. She still loves revisiting old hangouts on ASU’s campus, taking hikes near Grandfather Mountain, and grabbing a warm cup of coffee and delicious cinnamon scone from her favorite Boone bakery, Stick Boy Bread Co.
Following college graduation she started working as a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant at an elementary school back in her hometown. During that time she also began taking online classes to obtain her Masters degree in Library Science. Soon afterwards she took over the position of Media Coordinator at the same school, finished her degree, and remained there for three more years.
In the fall of 2013, Amanda married Chase Highley, whom she had met a year earlier during a Kindergarten field trip while she was a TA. The Highley family owned and ran a summer camp and petting farm that many local elementary schools visited on field trips during the fall season. It was during one of these field trips that she and Chase met, and it was on that same farm that they got married a year later.
During her time as a Media Coordinator, Amanda sharpened her collaboration and communication skills, and also began to develop basic marketing and web design skills from the various responsibilities that she held. With a growing interest in web design and digital marketing Amanda began working with her husband, Chase, during the summer to help build his new business MyTownUSA.
Wanting to delve deeper into the digital marketing and web design fields, Amanda decided to make a change and take a leap of faith. In 2016 she and Chase moved to Asheville, North Carolina to grow MyTownUSA. They also formed a partnership with Greenstone Media, an agency providing web design, mobile app development, Asheville search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing services to Asheville and the surrounding areas.
While most people cringe at the thought of working with their spouse, Amanda has enjoyed working alongside Chase to help make their dreams a reality. As new residents of Asheville, Amanda and Chase enjoy exploring the Biltmore Estate, trying out the many different restaurants and eateries in downtown, meeting friends at local breweries, hiking around the Blue Ridge Parkway, and attending Biltmore Church in Arden, NC where they have made several wonderful friends.
