1468 - Birth of the Spanish Franciscan churchman who served as Mexico’s first bishop and archbishop.
 

1528 - He arrived in Mexico on the 6th of December. He was the bishop-elected protector and defender of the Indians.

 

1935 -  He served as the inquisitor of the Indians.


1536 - He helped buildingthe Colegio de la Santa Cruz de Santiago Tlatelolco in Mexico City, the first seminary in the New World.

 

1539 - He helped in establishing the New World's first printing press.
 
1548 - Died in Mexico on the 3rd of June.
