Zaentz, Saul

1921 – Born on the 28^th of February into a Russian-Polish family in Passaic New Jersey.

1936 – He ran away at the age of 15. This is the start of his adventurous life

1955 – He joined Fantasy Records and became a manager.

1967 - He led a group of investors and purchased Fantasy Records. He signed the new band of a former staffer, John Fogerty, - Creedence Clearwater Revival.

1975 – In the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", he featured as a co-producer.

1977 – His debut for own production outfit, The Saul Zaentz Company, "Three Warriors".

1984 – Re-teamed with director Forman on "Amadeus", based on Peter Shaffer's play about Mozart, yielded a second Best Picture Oscar.

1988 - Had major financial failure with "At Play in the Fields of the Lord". He was in a loss of some $20 million.

1996 - Had a critical and box-office success with Anthony Minghella's film version of "The English Patient", adapted from Michael Ondaatje's novel.

1999 - As co-producer, re-teamed with Minghella for "The Talented Mr. Ripley".

2000-2002 - Announced as one of the executive producers of Peter Jackson's trilogy of films based on JRR Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings", filmed back-to-back; "The Fellowship of the Ring", "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King".
