1959 - York first injured his back while working on the film "They Came to Cordura".
1960 - He played the role of Bertram Cates, the young teacher charged with teaching the theory of evolution.
1964 - Acted as Darrin Stephens in the sitcom "Bewitched". The show was a huge success and York was nominated for an Emmy award.
1969 - He left the series due to a chronic back ailment. He was replaced in the TV series by actor Dick Sargent.
1976 - Was left impoverished after a real estate investment failed, and was on welfare for a time.
