1885 - Born in the village of Osugi Mura on the island of Shikoku, Kochi Prefecture

1905 - graduated from Hiroshima Military Academy

1916 - finished schooling from Japanese War College

1936 - on February 26, lost support from Emperor Hirohito's administration

1941 led the Malayan campaign forcing Singapore to surrender

1942 - succeeded in pushing Singapore to surrender

1944 - got promoted to being the general and was assigned to the Philippines as commander of the 14th Area Army

1945 - surrender under the command of Douglas MacArthur and he got sentenced to death on December 7

1946 - sent to the gallows and on February 23 he was hanged at the Los Banos Prison Camp as U.S Army tribunal found him guilty
