1961 - Born in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on the 18th of August.

 

1979 - He graduated from the private Cranbrook Kingswood school.

 

1983 - He earned a B.A. from Colgate University.

 

1987 - He earned J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

 

1989 - While teaching law in Beijing, CBS News hired Woodruff as an on-screen interpreter during the Tiananmen Square incident.  

 

1996 - He left the practice of law and became a full-time correspondent, initially working for several local stations, then moving to ABC News.

 

2006 - On the 29th of January, Woodruff and Canadian cameraman Doug Vogt were seriously injured in an explosion from an improvised explosive device near Taji, Iraq, about 12 miles north of Baghdad. 

 

2007 - On the 27th of February, Woodruff appeared on Good Morning America, World News Tonight, and The Oprah Winfrey Show, in advance of a documentary that aired on ABC later that evening.
