1890 - Paul was born on the 28th of March.
1918 - Started a jazz influenced dance band which beacame popular in San Francisco, California.
1920 - Moved to New York with his band and started making recordings under Victor records.
1920 - 1930 - Dubbed as "The King of Jazz". - His works were not considered as jazz by later generations but his music developed the history of jazz.
1926 - He recorded Hoagy Carmichael singing and playing Washboard Blues to the accompaniment of his orchestra.
1931 - He married motion picture actress Margaret Livingston.
1967 - He died on the 29th of December in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
