1944 - Born on September 12th in Galveston, Texas. An American Soulful and R&B singer.
1960 - Barry White first made his mark in the music business as a session musician, even serving for a spell as an A&R man for a small, independent Los Angeles record label.
1973-1974 - He first hit it big with a series of albums and singles emphasizing lush orchestrations and elaborate production values, over which he laid down his big baritone voice.
- He sold $16 million worth of records, not only his own but also as conductor of instrumental records (as The Love Unlimited Orchestra) and as producer of a string of albums and singles by the female vocal trio Love Unlimited.
- His peak year, saw him compose the score for "Together Brothers".
- He married Glodean James on the 4th of July. They had one child.
1975 - He acted in "Coonskin".
- Parodied by Chevy Chase (as 'Very White') in a first-season episode of "Saturday Night Live".
1989-1990 - He rebounded with a series of critically and commercially acclaimed records and beefed up his presence on TV somewhat, with a famous guest shot on "The Simpsons" and a series of commercials in which he parodied his image and persona.
1999 - Cancelled about one month of tour dates due to "exhaustion".
2003 - Died on July 4th in Cedars-Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles, California due to kidney failure. He was cremated and scattered off the coast of Santa Monica.
