1858 - Born on August 2nd in Burley in Wharfedale, Yorkshire. English author of lyrical and political verse, with a special gift for occasional poems.
1880 - His first collection, The Prince's Quest, appeared and wrote prolifically.
1890-1892 - Watson's 'Wordsworth's Grave', his 'Lachrymae Musarum' (on the death of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, the poet laureate), and his coronation ode for King Edward VII contributed to his reputation.
