1883 – He was born on the 23rd of August at Fort Walla Walla, Washington.

 

1901 – He graduated high school at Highland Park High School.

 

1906 – He graduated at United States Military Academy (West Point)

 

1916 – He was promoted to a Captain.

 

1917 – He was on the staff of the first officer training camp at Plattsburgh New York.

 

1918 – He became Assistant Chief-of-Staff of the U.S. 82nd Infantry Division.

 

1920 – He was then promoted to Major.

 

1921 – He was assigned to the U.S. 3rd Cavalry Regiment,

Fort Myer, Virginia.

 

1929 – Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and graduated from the Command and General Staff School,

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

 

1935 – He was promoted to Colonel, served as commander of the 3rd Cavalry.

 

1938 -He was promoted to Brigadier General in command of the 1st Cavalry regiment at Fort Clark, Texas.

 

1940 – In September he was promoted to Major General and returned to the Philippines, as

commander of the Philippine Department.

 

1941 – Responsible for resisting the Japanese invasion of the Philippines.

 

1945 – He received his 4th star General.

 

1946 – Became the commander of the 4th Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

 

1947 – He retired in August.
