Valentinus(Saint Valentine)

269 - Valentinus, Saint Valentine, a Roman martyr Priest was sentenced to death by cutting the head ordered by Emperor Claudius. Before his head was cut off, he restored the sight of his jailers daughter whom he fell in love with as well.

496 - The feast of Sanit Valentine was first decreed by Pope Gelasius I.

1969 - Formerly celebrated the feast of Saint Valentine on the 14th of February by the Roman Catholic Church, until a revised calendar was issued, pursuant to the Second Vatican Council.
