1861 - Frederick Jackson Turner, born on the 14th of November in Portage, Winsconsin. He was, with Charles A. Beard, the most influential American historian of the early 20th century. He is best known for The Significance of the Frontier in American History.

1884 - Graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

       - He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

1890 - He gained his Ph.D. in history from Johns Hopkins University.

1890 - 1910 - Served as a professor of history at Wisconsin.

1893 - He is remembered for his "Frontier Thesis", which he first published on the 12th of July in a paper read in Chicago to the American Historical Association during the Chicago World's Fair.

1910 - 1922 - As a professor in Harvard.

1932 - Died on the 14th of March in san Marino, California.

1933 - His essays are collected in The Significance of Sections in American History, which won the Pulitzer Prize in History.
