1881 - Born on the 15th of October in Exeter, Devonshire, England.

1896-1902 - Served as archbishop of Canterbury.

1909 - The younger Temple lectured in philosophy at Queen's College, Oxford, and was ordained to the priesthood.

1910 - Headmaster of Repton School.

1914–1917 - He became the leader of the Life and Liberty movement, an unofficial body designed to stimulate change in the governance of the Church of England.

1919-1921 - He was successively a canon of Westminster.

1921 - Bishop of Manchester.

1929 - Archbishop of York.

1942 - Archbishop of Canterbury.

1944 - Died on the 26th of October in Westgate on Sea, Kent.
