1899 - Born on June 2nd in Joliet, Illinois. Edwin Way Teale was a naturalist, writer, and photographer who captured the imaginations and hearts of Americans in his many books about nature.
1941 - He left his New York career in October to fulfill that dream.
1943 - He also won the John Burroughs Award for nature writing.
1951 - The first of the books, North with the Spring, was published.
1956-1960 - He wrote books describing all the American seasons: Autumn Across America, Journey Into Summer, and Wandering Through Winter.
- The Teale family moved from Long Island to an old farm near Hampton, Connecticut.
1966 - He won the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction for Wandering Through Winter.
1975 - He received the Ecology Award of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society.
