1930 - Jerry Tarkanian, born on the 8th of August in  Euclid, Ohio, United States. Also known as "Tark the Shark", is a former college basketball coach known for colorful behavior, including habitually chewing on a towel during games, and for his public criticisms of and clashes with the NCAA. 


1955 - Graduated in Fresno State University. 


1956 - 1957 - Head basketball coach for San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno.


1958 - Head basketball coach for Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California.


1959 - 1960 - Head basketball coach for Redlands High School in Redlands, California.


1961 - 1966 - Head basketball coach for Riverside City College.


1966 - 1968 - Head basketball coach for Pasadena City College.


1968 - 1973 - Head basketball coach for California State University at Long Beach.


1973 - 1992 - Head basketball coach for University of Nevada at Las Vegas.


1992 - Initiated lawsuit against NCAA, charging that investigations unfairly targeted Tarkanian's programs.

        - Head coach of San Antonio Spurs.


1995 - Head basketball coach for California State University at Fresno.


2005 - His colorful autobiography, "Runnin' Rebel: Shark Tales of "Extra Benefits", Frank Sinatra and Winning it All" was released in October and was a major national seller.
