            Northern California.

1968 - He served in United States Navy.

1989 - He elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred First and to the nine succeeding Congresses in Tennessee.

1976 - He was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives as a Democrat.

1990 - He was reelected in the house of Representatives with no major-party opposition.

1995 - He won the Democratic nomination for the seat Tennessee House of Representatives until the present.
