Steven A. McKean

Steve McKean was born in South Florida on December 10, 1968.
After graduating from Miami Palmetto High School in 1986, Steve went on to attend Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. At UM, he obtained his BBA and MAcc in Accounting in 1991, and he remains a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Michigan.
Parents are Randolph A. McKean and Judith L. McKean, and his brother is David McKean.
Steve McKean and his wife Robyn McKean are parents to Matthew, and twins Jordan and Ryan.
The Miami native serves as a director at the Miami Children’s Hospital, the Univ. of Miami Citizen’s Board, the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), the Zell Lurie Entrepreneurial Institute Advisory Board, and as a SFGF Director.
When Steve’s not working or enjoying time with his family, he enjoys technology, poker, golf, technology and a good cigar.
Steve McKean is the Chairman and CEO of Acceller, Inc. a company he founded in January, 2000. The company’s unique comparison shopping and information platform for selling digital home services has grown into an Inc. 500 company during his tenure. Acceller has secured partnerships with dozens of the top digital service providers in the United States. Acceller’s content site, DigitalLanding.com, where consumers can educate themselves and shop for Cable TV, High Speed Internet, Home Phone and Home Security services.
With over 100 employees, Acceller has become a sought after employer in the Miami area. As a matter of fact, the company has twice been named the “Best Place to Work in South Florida” by the South Florida Business Journal in 2009 and 2010.
Before founding Acceller, Steve McKean co-founded MEDWerks.com, an Application Service Provider (ASP) for medical claims adjudication and payment. Steve McKean helped establish key strategic business and technology partnerships with Arthur Andersen and IBM. Steve McKean also developed a business plan and financial model which helped the company secure $10 million in venture funding.
From 1994-99, Steve McKean was a franchiser for Dairy Queen in Miami-Dade County, and he was the CEO at Dade Confections.
Steve McKean is a proficient public speaker, giving presentations at events like the Cable Labs, Consumer Electronics Show, Florida Venture Forum, Phone+ Expo, Red Herring Venture South, and the Univ. of Michigan Growth Capital Symposium. Steve McKean’s public speaking engagements have ranged over several different topics, including business development, entrepreneurship and telecommunications technology.
