1869 – Born in Sag Harbor, Long Island New York on the 1st of December.

1890 – Sterling eventually followed him to the Bay Area.


1909 – Inspiration for character Russ Brissenden in Jack London’s novel "Martin Eden".


1926 – Died on the 17th of November, Sterling committed suicide by swallowing cyanide at his residence at the San Francisco Bohemian Club.
