1905 - Berthold Konrad Hermann Albert Speer, born on the 19th of March in Mannheim, SWC Germany. He was an architect, author and high-ranking Nazi German government official, sometimes called "the first architect of the Third Reich".
1931 - He joined the Nazi Party in 1931.
1934 - Became Hitler's chief architect.
1942 - He was minister of German armaments.
1943 - German armaments and war production minister.
1945 - He openly opposed Hitler in the final months of the war, and was the only Nazi leader at Nuremberg to admit responsibility for the regime's actions. He was imprisoned for 20 years in Spandau, Berlin.
1966 - After his release became a writer.
1981 - Died of a cerebral hemorrhage in London, England, on the 1st of September, exactly 42 years after Germany invaded Poland.
