1847 – Born in Cherbourg on th 2nd of November.

1890 – Sorel had been politically monarchist and traditionalist before embracing orthodox Marxism.

1892 – He became chief engineer with the Department of Public Works and retired.

1908 – Wrote "Reflections on Violence".

1920 – Sorel’s belief in the need for a deliberately-conceived "myth" to sway crowds into concerted action was put into practice by mass fascist movements.

1922 – Died on the 29th of August.
