1779 - Smith was born in London on December 31, 1779.

 

1799 - Smith was educated at Chigwell School.

 

1812 - He and his brother James produced a popular literary parody connected to the Drury Lane Theatre which was burnt down by fire. The managers offered a prize of 50 pounds for each address to be recited.

 

1818 - Smith became a stockbroker and helped managed Shelley's finances.

 

1826-1830 - Smith became rich by being a stockbroker, Horace produced a series of historical novels namely: Brambletye House, Tor Hill, Reuben Apsley, Zillah, The New Forest, Walter Colylon.

 

1849 - Smith died at Tunbridge Wells on July 12, 1849.
