1894 - Born on April 27th in St. Petersburg, Russia. Conductor, composer, musicologist Uncle of composer Sergei Slonimsky.

1923 - Emigrated to the United States and taught at Eastman School of Music.

1931 - Married to Dorothy Adlow on July 30th.

1933 - Conducted debut performances of works by Charles Ives, Edgard Varèse (Ionisation) and Henry Cowell.

1945 - He taught Slavonic Languages and Literatures in Harvard University.

1948 - Was a lecturer in Music at Simmons College.

1958-1991 - Responsible for overhauling Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians for its fifth edition, maintaining that reference in subsequent editions up to the eighth.

         - Was a teacher in Music at University of California at Los Angeles.

1994 - Was the author of the books, Music Since 1900, Music of Latin America, The Road to Music, Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns, A Thing or Two About Music, Lexicon of Musical Invective, Lectionary of Music, Perfect Pitch: A Life Story and an anthology, Nicolas Slonimsky: The First Hundred Years.

1995 - Died on December 25th in Los Angeles, California.
