1860 - Born on August 14th in South Shields, Durham, England. A naturalist and writer who was an early practitioner of the modern school of animal-fiction writing.
1866 - Seton was raised in North America, his family having emigrated to Canada.
1902 - He wrote the first of a series of articles that began the Woodcraft movement (published in the Ladies Home Journal).
1904-1906 - He visited Britain to promote his work around woodcraft - and was later to claim that Baden-Powell had stolen 'many of Scouting's essential ideas from him'
1910-1915 - Ernest Thompson Seton became chairman of the founding committee of Boy Scouts of America as Chief Scout.
- He revived Woodcraft as a coeducational organization - the Woodcraft League of America - as a co-educational program open to children between ages "4 and 94".
1946 - Died on October 23rd in Seton Village, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
