1968 - He has had a long association with Henry Kissinger, having served as his assistant when Kissinger was the National Security Adviser under Nixon.

1991 - President Bush presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

1993 - He was presented with the insignia of an Honorary KBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.

1998 - With George Bush, co-wrote "A World Transformed".

         - Scowcroft is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormons.

2001-2005 - He also served as Chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board under President George W. Bush.
