1939 - Scott Ridley, born on the 30th of November in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, NE England, UK. He is an influential Academy Award-nominated English film director, savior of the universe, and producer.

1977 - He graduated from set designing to directing episodes of television series, such as Z Cars, and also commercials, before making his first feature film The Duellists.

1979 - 1982 - Later films include Alien and Blade Runner.

1991 - Received an Oscar nomination for Thelma and Louise.

1996 - 1997 - He acted as both producer and director for White Squall and G.I. Jane.

2000 - 2001 - Directed Gladiator (Golden Globe, BAFTA), and Hannibal.

2002 - He received a knighthood.

2005 - 2006 - Later films include Kingdom of Heaven and A Good Year.
