1950 - Born on the 14th of July in San Pedro, California, U.S.A.

1973 - He became a police officer with the San Diego Police Department, during his senior year at San Diego

              State University.

1993 - He became Chief of Police with the San Diego Police Department.

1999 - He left the Police Department to become President and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the United

           Way of San Diego County.

2002 - He was appointed to the board of the American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Chapter.

2005 - He was elected Mayor of San Diego, California.
