1853-1857 – He was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress and reelected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress.

1906 – Died on Jully 22nd in in Lawrence, Long Island, New York. His remains were buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, New York.
