1913 - Born on December 15th in New York City. American poet whose work focused on social and political problems.
1930-1932 - Rukeyser attended private schools and was a student at Vassar College.
- She worked on the staff of the Student Review and later edited the Housatonic, a literary journal.
1933 - She was a reporter arrested during the Scottsboro Trials, protested the Vietnam War from Hanoi, and later the imprisonment on death row of fellow poet Kim Chi Ha by South Korea.
1935 - Wrote the poetry, Theory of Flight.
1938 - Her best-known work is The Book of the Dead, a series of poems published in the volume U.S. 1.
1978 - Wrote the poetry, A Turning Wind, Beast in View, The Green Wave, Elegies, Body of Waking, Waterlily Fire: Poems 1935-1962, The Speed of Darkness, Breaking Open, The Gates and Collected Poems.
1980 - Died on February 12th in New York City.
