1841 – Born on May 31st in Richford, New York. American industrialist and financier known, in conjunction with his older brother, John D. Rockefeller, for his role in the establishment and growth of the Standard Oil Company.
1862 – At age 21 he started his own business, Hughes and Rockefeller, as a produce commission merchant.
1865 – He started his oil refinery company.
1870 – He organized Standard Oil Company with his brother, John Davison Rockefeller.
1911 – Became the company’s New York representative.
1922 – Died on June 24th in Tarrytown, New York.
